New York City’s newest fireboat .

As part of the annual Navy Fleet week in New York City harbor, a special commissioning ceremony was held Wednesday at the Navy Museum pier. While we were waiting to meet up with our son from the ship USS Iwo Jima, we watched the ceremony from afar since the event was “invitation only”. We did get to see the Mayor and many dignitaries first hand as they exited and managed to come up with a souvenir program that was discarded by one of the ‘invited ones’. I’ll no doubt be posting on our visit to the NYC area and our reunion with our son David. But for now enjoy the video of the launching last September 11 of Fireboat 343.
